Abstract

React put component-driven UIs on the agenda a decade ago. Since then my approach to web development has become increasingly more data-driven to the point where my UI code is almost entirely stateless. I will show you how to successfully build data-driven components and what they're good at, and we'll explore the possibilities that open up when our UIs stop being so darn clever.

Day & time

Wednesday, September 06, 10:20 – 11:05 AM

Intended audience

Anyone who works with frontend web programming should benefit from this talk. Not a lot of experience is required, but well seasoned developers should also find the ideas in the talk of interest. Participants will be introduced to some new ways to approach component-driven UI development, and learn to enumerate the pros and cons of different approaches.

  • Christian Johansen

I am a jack-of-all trades programmer with more than 20 years of experience. I've done web development since pure CSS table-less designs were cutting edge, I've written my share of JavaScript (and a book about testing it), Ruby, and for the past 10 years, Clojure and ClojureScript. I've done infrastructure, backends, integrations, web frontends and native apps. I love it all, and I particularly enjoy working across the entire stack.
